Wir retten Zürich

October 2009 – July 2010

In a collaborative effort between artists, theatre and dance companies in Zurich on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee we are going to make the present day and age in the city in general – and in Zurich in particular – our subject during the season 2009/2010. 20 years later, as a theatre venue which owes its existence to a referendum and which is governed by a non-profit organisation – in the heart of Zurich and between two widely differing neighbourhoods like the Kreis 1 and 4 – we search for traces of the productive civic virtue which changed the city at that time and lead, among other things, to the founding of the Gessnerallee. “Wir retten Zürich” (“We save Zurich”) will grow as an overall project during the whole season in 12 sequential stages across the city and will close the anniversary season with a big festivity at the beginning of July 2010 in the Gessnerallee.
