Laura Kalauz and Marina Belobrovaja turn the Bevölkerungsamt (registration office) at the Helvetiaplatz into the navel of the city. Birth, marriage and death are registered here, the biographical life lines of all official inhabitants of Zurich cross here. During one week the everyday visitors of the registration office will find different performative interventions, which shed a light on a totally new side of the municipal administration. Red tape between service, control and emotion, always close to major breaks of human existence, as an unconsiderable but inevitable social necessity.
