This show is not a show. It is a workshop. This workshop is not a workshop. It is an action. This action is not made. It comes from you. If it doesn't come from you, we have no show.
This show has no audience. It has participants. The participants are part of the show, which is a workshop and an action and above all, it is part of a campaign: the #emptychairs. This work is a collaboration of performing artists and feminist activists. They started off with the ambition to create something which combines the best knowledge of their skills and which completely blurs the lines between «performance» and «protest». Then they met the #emptychair Campaign and found the perfect partner.
This is not theatre, this is a f*** protest!
We cordially invite you to join. Please take your seat. The #emptychairs Campaign is a feminist-led mobilisation located within a number of progressive movements seeking social justice through transformation of the power relations in society so that the wealth and resources in the world are equitably shared amongst all people. They are passionate about people’s participation and leadership as a foundational principle in organising society.
By and with: Antje Schupp, Carrie Shelver, Christoph Rufer, #emptychairs Campaign. A production by born2perform. A group of 3 people started collaborating – a performing artist (Antje Schupp), an activist and NGO worker (Carrie Shelver) and a scenographer (Christoph Rufer). Meanwhile, their project has extended to collaborate with the #emptychairs Campaign and they focus on combining feminist activist work methods and campaigns with work methods and elements from performance art. They're driven by the ambition to create a work, that blurs the lines between performance and protest, and where the audience can become an active part of both.
Please register at the box office of the Gessnerallee.
