In a limited series of eight letters the crip-queer artists Edwin Ramirez and Nina Mühlemann (aka Criptonite) engage with the embodiment of the octopus, Gessnerallee’s new symbol. The unique attributes of the octopus allow us to reflect on the countless ways bodies can exist: Octopuses have three hearts and eight legs (or are they arms?), do not have bones and die shortly after reproduction. What happens when we not only occupy ourselves with this different form of embodiment, but rather find ourselves within it? A declaration of love to the octopus and to all bodies outside the norm.
The octopus letters will roam the grounds during the opening weekend, looking for their recipients.
