Gessnerallee Zurich is one of the most important production and presentation venues for dance, theater, and the performative arts in Switzerland. The facilities include three stages and various rooms for rehearsals, residencies, and debates, as well as a foyer and bar in Stall 6. The annual budget is approximately CHF 4.4 million. The well-appointed team consists of twenty-eight permanent employees.
Gessnerallee is co-producer and organizer of local, national, and international independent groups. It is known and operates as an artistic laboratory featuring artistic process. As a co-producer for local artists, it is a strong partner in terms of content, technique, and financial means. It is a place of encounter and exchange concerning relevant societal issues and aims to serve a wide audience.

As of the upcoming 2020/2021 season, we are looking for a new

Director of the Gessnerallee (Individual or Team)

In this capacity your responsibilities include the administrative and artistic direction of the facilities. The scope of your artistic vision encompasses a broad program that embraces all facets of the performative arts and incorporates different aesthetic modes of expression. Within this range you cultivate and further develop contacts in an international network of cooperating venue facilities and event producers. Zurich artists / groups support you especially in the area of diffusion and networking in a national and international context.
Your role also entails securing personnel and financial resources and supporting the staff in the fulfillment of their diverse responsibilities. You promote and advance collaboration, both within the Gessnerallee as well as outside, actively seek partnerships including those with local initiatives and institutions. Beyond the artistic programming, you pursue contact with the public and integrate different societal groups.

You have an artistic vision, leadership experience and competence, are open to contemporary forms of organization, and are able to productively bring together the various interests and perspectives within and outside the Gessnerallee. You are familiar with acquiring third-party funds and are well versed in forward-looking financial planning and management. You are open and seek out face-to-face contact with staff members, artists, and the public. You have a broad international network, good knowledge of Swiss scenes, and the ability to engage in local, national, and international cooperations. You have excellent communication skills, which you can apply effectively.
