Call for applications:
Workshop «dealing with art» for production managers

During the festivals «Keine Disziplin» and «Steps» at Gessnerallee Zurich in 2018

Gessnerallee Zurich invites production managers, producers and cultural managers to participate in a 10-day workshop during «Keine Disziplin» and and a 3-day workshop during «Steps».

The workshop «dealing with art» offers production managers from Zurich and the rest of Switzerland the opportunity to explore contemporary, aesthetic and content-related positions in the context of both a dance and a theatre festival. The selected production managers will encounter international artists and producers in order to discuss means and ways of production, diffusion and communication.
Attending the two festivals is part and parcel of the workshop. «Keine Disziplin» has been presenting risky, thrilling and confusing artistic positions for five years now. «Steps», in turn, stands for large-scale international dance productions with great public appeal. Participants will be able to discuss amongst themselves, with artists, curators, managers and specially invited intellectuals.

We are looking for…
Production managers, arts managers and producers from the fields of theatre, dance and performance (work experience welcome).

Requirements:
• Being interested in performative projects by international artists
• Enjoying the exchange of controversial views and perspectives
• Being interested and open to other artists and their ways of producing and working
• Willingeness to reflect on one’s own work and on that of others
• Being able to communicate, and being somewhat fluent in English

We offer…
The opportunity to attend the events of both festivals, meetings for daily discussions, getting to know other modalities of work and production, meetings with international colleagues and to learn a lot. The workshop «dealing with art» will cover the costs for accommodation, meals and travel for non-local participants.

«dealing with art» will cover travel, accommodation and meals for nonresident participants.

Time frame:
Participants should be available during the festival «Keine Disziplin» from 25 January to 4 February 2018 and during the festival «Steps» from 13 to 30 April 2018 (for 3 days, tba). The workshop will presumably last halfdays, starting in the afternoon. In the evenings, we will attend selected performances of the festivals.

Coordinator and Facilitator of the workshop:
Lisa Letnansky, dramaturg and production manager for different artists/companies (asuperheroscape, Jeremy Wade) and Theater am Gleis Winterthur.
