We’re all tired, we don’t want to keep doing, keep producing, futurity as doing more does not make it anymore as a fiction
and still
we want
we desire
togetherness
can we be together just like that? with the fatigue? with a low dose of excitement?
because this possibility makes my heart warm and my lips wet.
If we want to imagine a future together, if we want to attune to the invisible voices of the earth and the wind and the biotopes, we have to admit those voices crave for all of us to do less
do less and listen more
In a scientific-fabulation story, Vinciane Desprets’ characters, habitants of a symbiotic more-than-human community, propose a definition of responsibility, they say it is "obedience to that which demands attention", and that at the same time means "curiosity".
During El Caldo / The Broth we invite everyone to come and take time to be, and pay attention to the almost nothing, to be curious about the barely perceptible. To enter a convivial space where we will eat and be and sometimes do, but the being and the doing will have no hierarchy.
The artists invited will be also doing and not doing, together we will commit to doing less and listening more. Doing will take the form of researching something fragile, teaching as a form of art, dining as formation of thought, and collective study as a political endeavour. Ideas will merge and belong to all, the important in a broth is what has remained floating in the water and not the individual ingredients.
The invitation is to come and be responsible - curious - and open to the uncertain and the formless.
To view the works of the participating artists, a day ticket for the respective day or a festival pass of El Caldo is required. Day tickets and festival passes can only be purchased on site. For some artistic works it is first come, first serve. Reservations will be accepted on site. To view the works of Maritza Sánchez Hernández, Loup Rivière and Noís Radio, please read the Open Call and register by email.
